The  city  of  Amman  is  the  capital  of  the  Hashemite  Kingdom  of  Jordan.  It  lies  in  the Northern  part  of  the  Kingdom, covering  an  area  of  1700  km2 with  an  estimated   population  of  2,200,000  inhabitants.  Greater  Amman  is  divided  into 27  administrative regions  known  as  districts  and  these  are:  Medina,  Basman,  Marka,  Al  Nusr,  Al  Yarmouk,  Ras  al-Ain,  Badr,  Zahran,  Al  Abdali,  Tariq,  Al  Queismeh,  Khraibet  Essouk, Almqabalain,  Wadi  Esseir,  Badr,  Sweileh,  Tla’Al  ‘Ali,  Al  Jbeiha,  Shafa  Badran,  Abu  Nseir,  Uhud,  Sahab,  Al  Mmowaqar, Marj  al-­Hamam,  Nawoor,  Husban, Um  Al  Basateen. However,  development  is  concentrated  in  the  northern  western  areas  of  the  city.
