Food Policy
The policy context affecting food security in the Middle East and North Africa continues to undergo rapid changes as governments increasingly focus on staple and strategic commodities. Many Arab countries are net importers of cereals and other major foodstuffs. Beyond the trade and procurement issues, tackling the regional policy challenges in water management and vulnerability to international food price volatility will be essential to developing stronger production systems that meet the needs of food insecure populations.
