Microfinance Services & Rural Women

After the 1st Annual Thematic Workshop held at Hammamet, Tunisia, KariaNet organised the 2ndAnnual Thematic Workshop at Amman, Jordan, between 18 and 21 September 2006 on the subject of "Microfinance Services and Rural Women.

For the 2nd Annual Thematic Workshop,  KariaNet invited each member project to present a success story of a woman who benefited from its their microfinance service, and ensure participation of this beneficiary to this year's workshop. In doing so, KariaNet contributes to raise the awareness of different stakeholders about the importance of micro-credit in the region, especially for poor rural women, excluded from conventional lending system. It is worth noting that poor rural women account for more than two-thirds of all beneficiaries of this lending system in the region.
